Official Launch of Groundwork: Empowering Community Justice Workers

We are thrilled to announce the official launch of Groundwork, a platform for growing community justice work. Groundwork serves as a vital resource for community justice workers and allies committed to addressing the civil justice crisis throughout the United States. Find active discussion groups, an evidence-based resource library, and a directory of justice workers and allies across the country.

On Groundwork:

  • Learn from and support each other in supportive discussions groups about program advice, learnings from successful initiatives, and more.
  • The resource library provides access to essential implementation guides, newsworthy articles about the latest developments of justice work, and documents to help navigate challenges when striving to launch and sustain justice worker programs.
  • A network directory helps you find and connect with peers in your local area and across the country.

We’re grateful for the input of over 20 legal empowerment leaders and justice workers to define the most needed aspects of Groundwork. Their frank feedback and warm support helped craft a truly community-centered space. One advisor told us, “I think there’s something to be said about establishing the proof of concept-the basic fundamental building blocks that define the movement you’re trying to build. And a lot of that is defining your shared vocabulary, your shared history, and your shared identity, and really establishing that."

We created a resource library and discussion groups to build that shared language and identity. As Laura Vasquez, Director of Immigration Integration at UnidosUS, stated, “I also think there’s an interest in a space for community justice workers working in immigration to come together. When we do a lot of peer-to-peer exchanges and bring people together, we can ask about the issues and concerns justice workers face and ways to make programs stronger or to help them be more effective.”

Our creative collaborators at Daylight Design also helped translate these values into a bold, inclusive brand for Groundwork. You can read about the full process of our collaboration in their case study.

The heart of Groundwork is a space for movement leaders who are committed to democratizing access to justice. By equipping the community with necessary resources and a fostering network, the platform helps to empower changemakers. Groundwork is the root that was planted for people to carry the torch of justice in their communities. It’s more than just a platform-it’s a representation of growth and the confidence to bloom as a collaborative force.
